AI FORUM CZECHIA & UKRAINE
Czech – Ukrainian informational, contacting and networking event to support B2B cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence
Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, building Na Františku
Prague, 24 April 2024
Where did we start?
The Russian invasion to Ukraine in February 2022 started new era of our cooperation: we knew each other from joint projects before and we promised ourselves already in 2021 that we will strengthen our collaboration.
But the urgent imperatives of wartimes brought us more together and showed that the Czechs (and other Europeans) can bring a lot of added value to the cooperation with Ukrainian digital experts and, on the opposite, can learn from the Ukrainian side how to cope with intensity of cybercrimes that was never seen before or how to continue a successful business under unpredictable conditions. This gave us a kick towards further collaboration.
What was next?
In March 2022, the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance was established. In June 2022, the European Parliament has granted the status of an EU-candidate country to Ukraine. In July 2022, we have formulated Czech-Ukrainian Industry 4.0 agenda. In September 2022, Ukraine has become an associated country within the Digital Europe Programme. In September 2022, mainly female Ukrainian delegation has been present at European Cluster Conference 2022 in Prague and, in October 2022, a significant mainly male Ukrainian delegation has visited International Engineering Fair Trade in Brno and organised, together with us, historically first Czech-Ukrainian Smart Export Forum. Some of the Czech experts have become Ambassadors of Industry4Ukraine and, later on, two of them were awarded by the prizes of honour – Professionals4Ukraine. First projects were submitted and first Czech-Ukrainian as well as EU-Ukrainian consortiums were formed. Over the first nine months of the Russian invasion to Ukraine, we managed to strengthen to collaboration on the B2B level as never before.
What happens now?
During summer 2022, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic has established Business Club Ukraine intended to support Czech-Ukrainian B2B collaboration. In October 2022, the Czech Government has approved its Program of humanitarian, stabilization, reconstruction and economic assistance to Ukraine in 2023-2025kope (shortly referred as “Programme Ukraine”). In January 2023, Mr Tomáš Kopečný was appointed into the position of the new governmental envoy for the reconstruction of Ukraine. Our network continues its cooperation and regularly organises its events and project activities.
